The Vic Theatre: Kicks off screening of “Embrace the Unexpected”

On Aug 15, 2025: The Vic Theatre is hosting its’ “Embrace The Unexpected” event. The 7-day event will be starting with a party event taking place at iconic “Vic Theatre” at 6:30 PM on Aug 15, 2025. This Film Festival will be featuring 4 Movies’ for the movie lovers’. Coolie (Tamil, 2025) will be on the screens of York Cinema at 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM (Pacific-time) on Saturday, Aug 16 and 17 (respectively). The movie brings a man's relentless quest for vengeance since youth, driven by righting past wrongs, shaping his very existence. The casts consists of Indian Actors Rajnikanth (Superstar) as Deva, Nagarjuna Akkineni as Simon, Amir Khan as Dahaa. Tickets on sale!

The First Show of "The Vic Theatre" begins with Kate Beecroft’s Sensational and Winner of "Audience Award" at 2025 Sundance Film Festival East of Wall” (2025). The Movie is starring Porshia Zimiga, Tabatha Zimiga & Scoot McNairy in the lead role. The story revolves around Tabatha (a young, tattooed, rebellious horse trainer), who after the death of her husband wrestles with financial insecurity and unresolved grief while providing refuge for a group of wayward teenagers on her broken-down ranch in the Badlands. The film is directed and written by Kate Beecroft. The movie run is 1h 37min and it's 14A (adult rated), Tickets on sale!

The Second Movie Featured on this event is Amy Berg's 2025 Documentary, "It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley". The film sheds light on the unforgettable life, fame, and controversy of Hallelujah (Song Writer: Leonard Cohen, Singer Jeffery Scott Buckley). The movie makers compiled the screenplay with never seen before accounts, videos, interviews and voice messages from inner circle of Jeff to create a nostalgic experience for viewers.

The movie casts Jeff Buckley (from archives), Mary Guibert & Ben Harper. The Vic Theatre premiers the movie on Aug 17, 20 and 21 (2025). The PG documentary is 1h 48min long. Tickets on sale!

The eyecatcher of all the listings on theatre is Kristen S. Thomas' (2023) "My Mother's Wedding" starring Scarlett Johansson as Katherine, Sienna Miller as Victoria, Emily Beecham as Georgina, Kristen S. Thomas as Diana and Freida Pinto as Jack. While the movie was released 2 years ago, The comedy drama narration still win people's heart. The film takes you to an account of three sisters return to their home for the third wedding of their mother. This new beginning causes the matriarch and her offspring to revisit the past as well as tackle the future. The PG movie is 1h 35min. Get ready for the wild ride, Ticket on Sale!

Although, these are the major show stoppers, but this is not it! The Film Fest has also organized its Annual Free-B Film Festival (Ongoing - Aug 23) for Old School Movie Enthusiasts. The Free-B Film Fest is taking place at Cameron Bandshell, Beacon Hill Park (Victoria) on 9 PM (Pacific-Time), Every Friday & Saturday. The Films displayed during the event are Elvis Presley & Ann-Margret starrer Viva Las Vegas (Fri, Aug 08), Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) (Sat, Aug 09), House on Haunted Hill (1959) (Fri, Aug 15), Matilda (1996) (Sat, Aug 16), King Kong vs Godzilla (1962) (Fri, Aug 22), Clue (1985) (Sat, Aug 23).
