BC Transit Announces 'Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System' Routes to Restart Coming Monday
This Important 'Back On Course' News comes to Cowichan Valley Regional System as the Unifor suggested News Release on Sept 16 (2025), that Unifor members from Local 114 – which represents Transdev transit operators, cleaners and mechanics in Cowichan Valley B.C. and Local 333-BC, which represents Handy DART accessible transit operators – voted 92% to follow the recommendations from Vince Ready (Labor Arbitration & Mediator, British Columbia), after a strike of seven month. As per the Latest Release by BC Transit:
Before service can resume all buses must undergo a thorough inspection, necessary maintenance work, cleaning and on-road testing for return to service. It’s also important for Transit Operators to refresh their training to ensure a safe resumption of service. This is the standard procedure when resuming operations after an extended period of time away from day-to-day service.
The transit, also mentioned that their may be some disruptions (including some trip cancellations) during initial period before, the Bus Services goes back to Last Year Service Levels. During this, initial period BC Transit has offered One Month Fare Concession promotion to Welcome Back Riders as 'Return to Service Discount' on Monthly Bus Passes and Handy-Dart Service (Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System Only), Available until Oct 31.
These fares are applicable to following routes:
Zone A: Valid on local transit service within the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit system and inter-regional service on the Routes 66 Cowichan-Victoria Express and 99 Shawnigan Lake-Victoria Express.
Zone B: Valid on all local service within the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System, the Victoria Regional Transit System and inter-regional service on Routes 66 Cowichan-Victoria Express and 99 Shawnigan Lake-Victoria Express.
