Olympic Speed Skaters Are Acing On The Ice, Team Canada Wins Silver in Short Track Speed Skating (Mixed Relay)
Winter Olympics 2026 (Milano Cortina) (Milan, Italy): Team Canada is on a winning spree, as it adds another Silver Medal in Speed Skating Short Track (Mixed Relay) on the Leadersboards (Medal Table). Thanks to a spell bounding performance by Kim Boutin, Courtney Sarault, William Dandjinou, & Fèlix Roussel in the finals of Speed Skating (Short Track - Mixed Racing) at Milano MSK - Competition Rink. The team also included Florence Brunelle & Steven Dubois who played during quarter finals and semi finals games of competition, respectively.
While, Gold medal gets crowned to the host nation Italy (Chiara Betti, Elisa Confortola, Arianna Fontanna, Thomas Nadalini, Pietro Sighel, Luca Spechenhauser) topping the charts & Beligum got the Bronze medal with Third rank (Tineke den Dulk, Hanne Desmet, Stijn Desment, Petre Ward, Adriaan Dewagtere). The Olympic Medalist Canadian Skating Star Kim Boutin now becomes receipent of five olympic medal and this time it was special for Kim as well as Olympic champion take's home her First medal in a team sport skating event setting.

Kim Boutin after her the victory at Milano Cortina (2026) games said, "I’m proud of my team. It gives me wings. This is just the beginning, We’ve been working toward this medal for so long. We were really united. That’s what I loved most." (Source: Olympic Canada)
Marc Gagnon (Team Coach, Speed Skating Canada) expressed his cheers after the win as, "Everyone is aiming for gold. That’s how we build our team. We’ve set very high goals over the past two years, and we have very ambitious ones here. Is it a problem to finish second today? Absolutely not." (Source: Olympic Canada)
The Finals became noteworthy and memmorable for the Felix Roussel as the 24 year old was only told about him playing in the finals 10 minutes prior to Game start. Roussel said, "I found out I was skating in the final 10 minutes before, The guys [Dubois and Dandjinou] skated really well in the semifinal, so I thought they’d go with the same two. Then Marc [Gagnon] came up to me and told me I was skating the final. I said, ‘Are you sure? The other two were really strong. Yes, you’re going.’ It was a lot of pressure, but no one on the team ever made me feel like they doubted me." (Source: Olympic Canada)
The victory was more special for Florence Brunelle, as said, "I’m still trying to process my emotions, but it’s definitely a big relief, What’s most meaningful is having the chance to compete alongside people we care about, people we appreciate, and with whom we’ve put in the work over the past few years. Despite the odds, during the finals which made the game thirlling experience for the fans across the globe including set back during the inital laps in 18 laps long run. However, Canadian team regained its position past midway, with three laps to go Felix Roussel made a astonishing pass to get the team to Silver Medal (Rank 2) in the Milan arena. A Great team with shear talent had found themselves at the pinancle of the tournament as the Speed Skating Short Track (Mixed Relay) event was only introduced four years ago at Beijing Olympics (2022). The medal is noted to be first for all team members Except Speed Skating Star Kim Boutin who won three medals in Pyeong Chang (2018) and one at Beijing Olympics (2022) and Steven Dubois who has won four olympic medals too.
