The New Minimum Wage gets a fair bit of boost to $18.15 from Government of Canada
Employment and Social Development of Canada (Mar 24, 206) (Gatineau, Quebec): The Federal Government announced today that it will be increasing the federal minimum wage to $18.15 per hour, starting April 1, 2026. The increase this year represents a 2.1% total cummulative increase over last years minimum wage $17.75. The cummulative increase is based on Canada's annual average Consumer Price Index of previous year which rose the same as of cummulative wage increase. The government aims to tackle the increasing cost of groceries and other essentials, such as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit and the Food Security Fund with this measure.
Also, the significance of increasing the federal minimum wage to protect the wage that workers rely on and strenghtens the standard fair pay.
Patty Hajdu (Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Nothern Ontario) said, "Ensuring the federal minimum wage rises with inflation is a floor that protects workers, especially those in the lowest paid jobs in federally regulated sectors. Keeping the minimum wage up to date helps maintain a reliable baseline that strengthens earnings and keeps workplace standards strong for all workers."

As per the regulatory measures all employer(s) in federally regulated private sector are required to adjust their payrolls to ensure their employees are paid at least $18.15 per hour starting April 1, 2026. If and when the provincial or territorial minimum wage rate exceeds the federal rate, federally regulated employers must pay their employees the higher of two.
