The Ivors Academy (May 21, 2026) (Grosvenor House, London): The Ivor Academy hosted their 71st Ivor Novello Awards at Grosvenor House (London, UK) in collaboration with Amazon Music to celebrated and recognized the exceptional UK - Irish songwriters and screencomposers have created a globally through their compositions and songs. The prestigious awards winners list included trending music artist like Lola Young, CMAT, Calvin Harris, Rosalia and more. The 2026 winners join a roll of songwriting and composing greats who have received an Ivor Novello Award over the past seven decades, including Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Adele, RAYE, Stormzy, Cathy Dennis, Bruce Springsteen, Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse, Dave, Sting and Joan Armatrading. The nomination for the awards was originally announced back in March which included a extensive list of Top & Rising New generation of UK - Irish music artists.
The Ivor Novello Awards (2026) receipents were distributed amongst 14 categories to 16 songwriters out of 61 British, UK, or Irish songwriters, composers and international collaborators with 37% fresh faces receving their first ever Ivor Novello Awards.

This years, Ivor's academy awards also introduced 'Elton John' as their first ever President of The Ivor Academy. A newly created role is to honour those UK, Irish or UK resident artists who have reached the pinnacle of their songwriting or composing profession, and are committed to giving back by supporting the community and advancing the Academy’s mission to protect the future of music.
Elton John (President, The Ivors Academy) has said, "Creativity when your are writing music or writing songs is probably the greatest thing you can ever have. Music is the greatest gift you can possibly be given. All the people who receive award today totally deserve them, and they have contributed to wondrous moments. Where you listen you listen to something you think God, I wish I'd written that. It's an incredible feeling to see all this young talent streaming past and it's tribute to music that and the Brisith essence of songwriting. We're amazing country that produces great songwriters as always has."

The academy winners received the legendary Ivor Novello solid bronze statuette depicting Euterpe, the Greek muse of music and lyric poetry. The award trophy was designed in 1955 by sculptor Hazel Underwood. The Ivor Academy in collaboration with Amazon Music will be releasing a tribute version of Careless Whispers song in memory of George Michael performed by Skye Newman at the Ivor Academy Awards. The Ivors Academy is the leading non-profit organisation for songwriters and composers. The academy was founded in 1944 as The Composers Guild of Great Britain and soon grew larger with merger of three guilds: Composers Guild of Great Britain, representing classical composers, Songwriters Guild of Great Britain, and Association of Professional Composers, representing media composers.
