TransLink (Vancouver, BC) (May 1, 2026): BMO Vancouver Marathon kicks off on May 3 (2026) and in response to which TransLink has geared up to add extra Bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus services on Sunday (May 3) to help participants, volunteers, and supporters get to and from BMO Vancouver Marathon. The running event is Vancouver's pride being the Top Destination recognized by Forbes, CNN and USA Today amongst many other prominent media publications in North America.
The Half Marathon and Marathon race will begin at 7AM & 8:30AM at Queen Elizabeth Park (Midlothian Ave.) takes a legendary path which will take participant through communities such as South Vancouver, Dunbar, UBC, Kitsilano, and along the scenic seawall near English bay, goes till final loop of Stanley Park and finishing at West Pender St. (Bute & Thurlow St.). The 8KM Race starts at 9:30 AM in Stanley Park and finshes at West Pender Street. The Kids Run is scheduled at Ceperley Park inside Stanley Park with 2.4 KM loop around Lost Lagoon on Saturday May 2 (2026) with start times of 11AM for kids under 14 and 11:30AM for kids under 10.
The race will features 70% of Vancouver shoreline views, unique snow-capped mountain ranges, cherry blossom trees, point-to-point courses, golden beaches and along Stanley Park Seawall - World's longest uninterrupted waterfront path. The particiapants running will be coming from all over the world with currently 25,000+ participants registered runners from 65+ countries coming to become part of this humungous event that showcases diversity, cultures, promote causes, create awareness and above all a becomes a beacon of Great Sporting Spirit.
The Vancouver's only biggest Marathon event is organized by RUNVAN, a vancouver based non-profit and volunteer-run organization overseeing the Marathon. The Title Sponser is BMO Financial Group North America's 8th largest bank with total assests of $774 billion, 12 million customer globally utlizing broad range of personal, commercial banking, wealth management and investment banking products. While boosting the regular service levels TransLink has annouced service changes for the 2026 BMO Vancouver Marathon those of which includes Bus detours which are in effect on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 due to road closures route 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 33, 41, 42, 49, 50, 68, 84, 99, 209, 210, 211, 240, 246, 257, R4 RapidBus, and N9 NightBus.
SeaBus starts two hours earlier than usual at 6:02 a.m. with sailings every 30 minutes from Lonsdale Quay, until regular service resumes at 8:02 a.m. with sailings every 15 minutes until the evening. SkyTrain will begin service on the Expo Line at 7:06 a.m., and the Millennium Line at 6:56 a.m., while the Canada Line will run extra trains to accommodate runners heading to the starting line.
The 42.2 KM race held annually in May had already hit capacity and is ready to welcome the world with 3,000 volunteers and fans to Run, Cheer or Volunteer. The participants will be receiving race kit after registration including New Tech Tee, New Medal included (If In-Person), Marked and Measured Courses (If In-Person), Race Bib with Chip Timing (If In-Person), Results, Leaderboard and more. The Package is available to pick up at Vancouver Convention Centre East, 999 Canada Pl. on Friday (May 1, 10AM - 7PM) & Saturday (May 2, 9AM - 5PM).
TransLink (South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority) is metro Vancouver's Public transit network consisting of TransLink Busses, SkyTrain (Operated by BCRTC), SeaBus (Operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company), West Coast Express and Transit Police.
